3 Hacienda Luisita Massacre

Did it really happened? Or is it another ploy to discredit Noynoy Aquino who had been in recent weeks consistently topping all survey charts for the presidentiables? Is there a truth in what the militant groups are blabbering these past few days? Well, it did really happened. If you want to know how everything else happened 5 years ago, here is a documentary made a year after the Hacienda Luisita Massacre happened.

What you saw is just the first of four parts, you may see the remaining parts on YouTube by searching 'Sa Ngalan ng Tubo' to know how the strike by the workers of Hacienda Luisita ended.

We have heard what Nonoy Aquino stated regarding Hacienda Luisita: they will sell off their shares because after all they're not earning much from it. But Mr. Aquino, why not pressure the other owners to give up their hold on that estate and distribute it to the farmers who have tilled that land for many decades? After all, it should have been done a long time ago since the CARP was passed under the administration of your mother which was then considered as the centerpiece program of her administration.

Now, you're telling everyone else that it might not be the best solution (redistributing the land) since the ratio of farmers to the size of the land is disproportionate. But Mr Aquino, this would not have happened if your family (the Cojuangcos) will not intend to convert the land into 'commerical, industrial, residential and recreational parks.' From the very beginnning, you don't have any plans to give up the land but to displace the farmers one by one while you gain more profits from the new land use plan that your family had been planning ever since.

What the farmers had been asking from your family ever since is just to give the land that was rightfully theirs. It is no longer a question whether the ones claiming are legitimate residents of Tarlac or workers of the hacienda but it is a question of why can't you simply give up Hacienda Luisita for these farmers who had been tilling the land for you so that you may earn.

If you did nothing to resolve this issue once and for all, I guess it depicts what kind of president you will be once elected. By the way, I'm no supporter of any presidential candidate - whether it Villar, Estrada or Teodoro. In fact I don't want to see any of these three people to end up winning the elections. Actually, I had been toying with the thought that it could be you whom I will support but upon much deeper discernment and the way things are going, it seems to me that you've got no difference with them.

Yes, your family did not ordered these farmers to be gunned down to death which led to Hacienda Luisita Massacre - one of the most brutal crimes committed against farmers who never asked for anything else but to give the land that was rightfully theirs. But in the midst of what was happening then, your family did nothing but to even blame the militants for instigating the farmers to go on strike. Your family did not even tried to talk with those in the picket line. Your family chose to ignore them.

Well, it is not too late to do something about it, Mr. Noynoy Aquino. Show everyone else that you are indeed a beacon of hope and change in this wrecked land - not a son who had just been passed on the legacy of his parents. It is about time to make a stand on issues, to make a stand if you are indeed for the Filipino people.

0 Ultimate Paintball Experience

Paintball is really an exciting game. Nothing beats the adrenaline rush you feel when you pull that trigger and you hit someone with a pellet. But of course, no one gets hurt in this game because all you shoot at your 'enemies' (it is in quotation since they are not really my enemies) are 'paintballs.' Most of the time, we just play for fun minus the rules and just try to shoot as many as we can and jeer at the one who gets 'painted' the most.

Usually, we Tipmann 98 Custom paintball 'guns' because it is very much accurate and it would really surprise your 'enemies'. We cannot forgot how many times we laugh and tease a friends who gets the most hits. Tipman A5 makes his fate worse because all of us would target him and will hit him continuously since it works like a real semi-automatic rifle that can fire 17 rounds per second. Gladly, our friend would just laugh it off and playfully fire at all of us.

3 It's Complicated™

(Note: I originally wrote this piece last September 8. During that point in time, I was confused on what should I do. Eventually, the following day, it seems that my mind was all clear on what I need to do. But it was a momentary bliss. Just a few days after that, I again found myself questioning myself. Should I or shouldn't I? And so by publishing this piece I believe, would stir harsh comments against me. Believe me when I say that I need them. It must also be noted that I had inserted my current insights and happenings.

But it must be also noted that as of this point in time, me and Euqie have already parted ways. She has her boyfriend now, someone much closer to her and I am currently on the process of discernment. I just want to share how things came to be right now.)

Please. Don't ask me why my life's currently complicated. Simply because I cannot find the exact answer to this mind-boggling and heart-wrecking question - like how you asked me why I failed in UP. But I can give my vague reply to your - it just happened.

---

It was then a very ordinary and boring afternoon. I was then in-charge of the cybrary section of the library. No one was using the computers. I had nothing else to do. I had finished sorting out the log-in/log-out cards alphabetically. I was all by myself and feeling very drowsy.

After what seemed to be hours of solitary confinement, she suddenly came from nowhere - together with a few of her friends. She was the last one to enter the room but she was the only one that I've noticed.

In an instant, my eyes were glued to her. I was suddenly awake and very much alert. My heart started to beat faster. I was completely stunned by her that I had almost forgotten what I need to do. It was like the first time it happened to me: a nerdy boy with thick glasses blushing over a girl whom he met for the first time and fell in love at first sight.

And so for the next hour that she stayed, I found myself getting a few glimpses of her. Sometimes, I would even leave the desk and pretend to do something at near her: check the printer, adjust the air-con and restart the PCs so that I could just get to see her in a 'better' angle.

---

I must admit that she isn't that beautiful by 'worldly' standards. She doesn't have that perfectly chiseled body wherein guys would surely drool over. It was her sheer simplicity that made her stand out for me.

Unlike most of the girls in my current school, she doesn't wear a make-up on. She wears an ordinary headband to adorn her hair. She even wears eyeglasses that looks very much like mine. When I wear these eyeglasses, I would look like an old and grumpy nerd boy. But on her, it made her eyes more beautiful. It adds up to her unpretentious guise and it is as if a natural part of her totality.

---

I've thought that this would soon pass out. That it was just one of the many infatuations I had in the past. That after being mesmerized by her presence for an hour, my obsession for her would die a natural death.

Unfortunately, at this point in time, it is still very much alive and is on the brink of blooming into something else.

---

Having said those things, I guess you have an idea that I won't just have those tingly feelings inside when I see her. There would be a lot of moments in the days after that that I've found myself day dreaming about her. Then as if it was destined to be, a day would almost never pass without seeing her. Ninety-nine percent of the time, it was by sheer coincidence and I really don't know why it happens.

A friend of mine told me that I could have been secretly or unconsciously wishing to see her. I don't know. I don't have the answers and that's what making my life complicated right now (or is it I who makes it complicated, it could be).

It is complicated because I have a girlfriend. Most of you probably know who she is. But before you can judge me, she knows our situation. I've told her about this girl a long time ago. I have told her that she is my crush just the same that she told me that she has a crush too.

---

Things had gone out of control when we had a major disagreement. Because of my frustrations and anger, the following day after we quarreled, I saw her again. It was on that day, out of tremendous anger boiling up within me, that I had wished to be single so I can court her and become my girlfriend.

I completely knew that it would be the equivalent of being 'babaero.' A two-timer. A man who would easily replace a woman if he's fed up with her. A man who easily breaks down and simply forget his sweet promises of undying love.

---

It would be a cliche and 'gasgas na dahilan' if I would tell you that I'm just a fragile human being that has his own strengths and weaknesses. But this is what really I am. I am not making any excuses though it seems to be one. I don't want to pretend to be a virtuous man who seems to do only good - well, I am not.

I am but a weak and helpless man that easily falls into temptation.

---

Now, we are on the brink of breaking up. I am on the brink of a nervous breakdown. I just don't know what to do.

Napakahirap talagang umibig at magmahal. I guess I am still lucky to have been able to keep my love problems away from affecting my studies unlike in the past wherein breakups and being 'basted' always made me cry day and night. Still, I don't know for how long could I keep on going like this. Making choices here is not easy. No one would surely be happy - though someone told me that sometimes happiness can only come out from the most painful experiences that we had.

But I still have to make a choice. I cannot hold two things at the same time with one hand. I cannot have two people staying in my heart.

I just hope that by leaving it all up to Him, he will enlighten my mind and help me choose what would be the best for all of us.

(Postscript: As of now, I have chosen and things are way better than before for the both of us. And right now, I am on discernment while trying to be close to that girl. :D As for Euqie, she's very happy now with her current boyfriend.)

5 Digmaan (War)

(Note: This post was originally intended to be published on September 1, the day of commemoration for the outbreak of the Second World War.)

Most of us weren't born yet when it happened. It is said to be one of the most 'destructive war of all time' that it had been able to surpass all the previous wars in terms of cost, people killed, nations involved and the havoc it did. Mankind had witnessed the most 'inhumane acts' committed by heartless and merciless people. It was a war borne out of man's lust for power and selfish aims to rule the world. It is the most tragic and horrible chapter of human history.

It was the Second World War (World War II).

---

Last September 1, a few countries in Europe 'commemorated' the 70th year anniversary of the outbreak of World War II that began with the invasion of Poland by then Nazi Germany. I would like to emphasize that: 'a few countries..'

From out of the more than 100 nations that had been involved in the most deadliest war, only a few had remembered.

It seems that everyone else had simply chosen to forget a war that had almost annihilated the entire human race.

---

Maybe, we cannot blame some people to simply put the war as part of history books and erase it from collective memory because of the tremendous sorrow, pain, grief and sufferings the have experienced. Kumbaga sa pag-ibig, para naman maka-move on ang lahat.

Yet, there is a danger when everyone else chose not to even remember it. Because the next generation would have little knowledge about that war and would not be able to learn some lessons from it. Thus, there is a big possibility that it could occur again.

Even now, we are quite seeing some danger signs that could possibly lead to escalation of violence and would most likely lead to another war that almost all nations would be involved.

What would be the reasons for the possible escalation of another war? The same reason that have caused World War 2: greed.

Take the case of the Philippines.

---

Our capital (Manila) is said to be the 2nd most destroyed city in the world after the war. It is also said that almost a third of our population had been either killed in action or had been victims of the war. Others who had survived had barely crossed the line to insanity. Our women had been raped and this barbaric act had been forever etched in their minds. We had also seen how Imperial Japan then used the most excessive and brutal torture methods. We had seen how each Filipino had suffered so much that they've got no other choice but to either fight or die.

And yet, we do not even remember much of it. It had been downgraded to a mere chapter on our history books - just like other important historical events that made us truly Filipino. It had become a mere campaign for more compensation for the service our veterans had rendered during the war. It had almost been removed in the Filipino's collective memory.

And because of that, we are seeing a resemblance of the previous war we had been - this time in its much worse form.

---

Filipinos fighting against each other. Filipinos silencing those who disagree with them.; some would experience the same torture that Imperial Japan did. Filipinos who still see that only an all-out war can put an end to our insurgency and terrorism problems. Fellow Filipinos who sees dissenters as traitors of the 'state' and destabilizers out there to disrupt the prevailing oppressive social order.

The aggressors had long been gone. But what made it worse is that our fellow Filipinos had replaced them. In fact, as soon as war ended, the previous governments of Roxas, Quirino and Magsaysay worked for the annihilation of the Huks simply because they fought against the feudal lords and fought for their right to have their own land to till.

From then on, the government who supposedly should be protecting the true interests of its people had become the oppressor. The entity who used its 'legitimate use of force' to silence the people's genuine concerns. The traitors who are out there to sell out our country and its people in exchange for dollars to fill in their pockets.

But why? They had simply forgotten to learn their lessons from the past.

And I won't be surprised if in the near future, no matter how peace-loving Filipinos are, we would be divided by civil strife because of their frustration and hopelessness that they are seeing in our current plight.

---

But then again, no one wins in a war. Not even the victor who had been able to wipe out its 'enemy.' Even the oppressed who suddenly took up the arms to fight the oppressor. We would always end up in a vicious cycle of violence and hatred that would make it happen all over again.

So what do we need to do?

Learn our lessons from history.

May nagawa ako.

Amen.

1 Share Your Thouhts

We would surely all agree with what the great philosopher Aristotle told us thousands of years ago: Man is a social animal. Our blogs, Facebook profiles and Twitter accounts prove how we cannot live alone and we always need someone to talk to or connect with others. Sometimes even if we see our friends almost every day, we would still talk them through our cell phones or on the net. We really love to be with others that it seems we cannot survive without them.

That’s why on the web, we have found better ways not just only to connect with our family, friends or co-workers but to also connect with other people who we share common interests. This had been made possible through online forums. Over the past few years, we have seen its exponential growth in terms of the number of people engaging in discussions on forums that have specific themes or topics. We have political forums, tech forums, religion forums and even hobby forums. Any topic, issue or theme that you can think of, you’ll surely find one on the web.

One of these great forums where in you can literally or figuratively share your thoughts is Thoughts.com. What makes this forum site different from other forums is that you would really feel the urge to engage and share your thoughts with others just by seeing their name. It is literally the convergence of thousands of thoughts posted through their very well categorized message boards.

Although they don’t stick to a particular theme or issue, this only means that these forums can help you to become a very well rounded person because you’ll be in the know not just on one particular topic but on others as well. This offers us an overview on how different aspects of life unfold each day and what we seem to have been missing out due to our very busy schedules. It also gives us the avenue to spill out and share to others our angst, hatred, love, happiness and sadness that is within us. Still, with its wide range of topics, you can surely find your own spot in the forum’s message boards.

This is a really nice way to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences with its thousands of members across the world and hopefully, you’ll also learn a lot from them.

1 Recover Your Deleted Files

Easy File Undelete - Data Recovery Software

It had been a usual problem for PC users – we sometimes tend to accidentally delete some of the most important files we have. It could be an important contract or a company presentation that you need for that big report tomorrow. Even worse, it would usually happen at times when you are already about to use it. It would really be a big hassle to redo all of it and sometimes you would just give up which could result in one great opportunity of a lifetime missed because of your carelessness.

But to save us from things happening from bad to worse, there are a lot of software programs available to help you recover deleted files. Some of them are offered free for download over the web but most of these freeware are very unreliable. Still, some of us are discourage to buy licensed data recovery software programs because they cost from fifty to a hundred bucks. Still, the latter would be the better choice since it will give is tried and tested and gives us guarantee that you are only to get the best quality out of the product that you are buying.

In this aspect, Easy File Undelete gives you the best value for your money. What makes it different from other data recovery software is that it is truthful in its words. Why did I say that? They do not promise you to ‘recover all the deleted files.’ Instead they promise you to ‘recover as many deleted files as possible.’ Can other software programs say that? I bet not. Because they are afraid that customers won’t try to use it. But Easy File Undelete is not.

It is because they are quite confident with the features that their software has. One of these is the ability to recover photos that had been taken using almost all brands of cameras that you can think of. It also comes with a feature that allows you to take a preview on a certain file before you recover it. That way, it would save you a lot of time in looking for the exact file that you are looking for.

Aside from that, it can even work in large databases. But what really makes it different from other data recovery software is that it can recover deleted files even though you have reformatted your computer or laptop! Installing it on your PC would be a very much easy for you since it supports almost all versions of Windows starting from its 2000 version.
